Ethical Beauty: Some of the Best Guilt-Free Ethical Skincare Products
Skincare is perhaps the most important part of any woman’s beauty regime, from removing every spec of dirt to hydrating, skipping any step can affect your skin more than you think. In previous years, I would buy skin care from brands which had an ingredients list longer than a short novel which in turn damaged my skin, but also without me knowing, harmed various species and the environment. So today I thought why not share some of the best ethical skincare products which don’t harm your skin with harsh chemicals and are free from animal testing.
Drying Lotion, Mario Badescu £16
This brand has quickly become a cult classic with their highly popular ‘Rose Water mist’, however this is perhaps one of their best skin care products. The drying lotion is great for tackling pesky spots for all skin types and significantly shrinks, if not completely rids your skin of spots and pimples overnight. This will quickly become your holy grail.
Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Lush £6
Perhaps the worlds most loved natural vegan/vegetarian skin care and beauty brand. This lip scrub was all the rage when beauty bloggers were showing off their brighter and plumper natural lips thanks to this product. With completely natural and minimal ingredients and a vegan formula, this product allows you to have those plump Kylie Jenner lips without the need for any chemicals.
Let the Good Times Roll Face Scrub, Lush £9
Surprise! Another Lush product, but you can’t talk about ethical skin care and not have at least a few Lush products on your list. This product is one of my personal favourites, not only does it have the satisfying grit of an exfoliator but it also soothes and moisturises your skin so it isn’t left with the dry and malnourished feeling that most exfoliators give you. Bonus: it leaves your skin smelling like sweet popcorn for hours and if you collect 5 of their tubs you can take them back to be recycled and get a free face mask!
Cherry Balm Dotcom, Glossier £10
Glossier has become an essential in the skincare drawers of many girls and now we know why! This lip balm not only comes in the most adorable paint tube like packaging, but also leaves your lips feeling soft and plump for hours and adding the most subtle but beautiful cherry like tint, perfect for almost every skin tone. If you’re grabbing their 3 for £25 deal make sure to check out Birthday for a glittery finish and Berry for, well it’s in the name, berry like tint.
Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, The Body Shop £17
Another British favourite which has become an iconic global brand, the Body Shop has a wide range of ethical products known to a brand which is actively fighting animal testing and introducing a wide range of vegan products. But this charcoal mask has to be one of the best ones in the market at the moment. Unlike most masks It mattifies your skin absorbing excess oil, whilst leaving it glowing without being too rough. The refreshing mask uses Indian Ayurveda as a base alongside green tea and tea tree oil and is 100% vegan.
Aloe Vera, Neem, Tulsi Face Wash, Patanjali £7 pack of 2
Although not a widely available brand in stores, Patanjali is an Ayurvedic brand from India which uses natural products such as aloe and tulsi to brighten and cleanse your skin. It gently removes all of your make up and impurities from the day and helps to significantly reduce blemishes and breakouts. I’ve personally been using this product for 4 years and it has significantly helped to clear my problem skin. Although not in stores you may be able to find this at an Indian store near you, if not then the products are available in bundles on Amazon.
Pomegranate Moisturising and Balancing Cream-Gel, Korres £19
Finding a face gel which doesn’t leave your face feeling oily and greasy is really difficult, but this Greek brand has perhaps cracked the code. The Korres Cream-Gel is exactly what its advertised as. The product has the perfect balance between hydrating your skin with the cream base and not clogging your pores with the gel base, which in turn works as a perfect daily moisturiser and make up base.
Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30, REN Skincare £30
Sunscreen is something which is overlooked by many in their daily skin care, however ensuring that you’re using SPF on your skin to protect it from harmful UV rays which are still present when the sun isn’t. This sunscreen unlike many isn’t heavy on your skin throughout the day nor does it clog your pores and cause breakouts which I have found with many sunscreen brands.
