Why Anthony Vaccarello's YSL Is Making History

YSL is a French luxury fashion house founded by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé. In April 2016, Anthony Vaccarello was appointed as the Creative and Artistic Director of the brand, following the departure of Hedi Slimane in the pretentious gig.

As the designer for both Versus Versace and his eponymous label, his reputation as the master of seductive, modern silhouettes became widely known in the fashion world. He is the perfect fit for the fashion house, making women all over the globe feel liberated with leather hot pants and ultra-mini dresses that he makes for us. Vaccarello is continually pushing boundaries,

Anthony Vaccarello's YSL is making history, but his leadership of the brand isn’t the only reason YSL is where it is today. He also acknowledges what his predecessor did for the brand before him. “Making the perfect blazer was part of the genius of Hedi Slimane,” Vaccarello says. “He did what had to be done, making Saint Laurent the brand young and contemporary, like Saint Laurent the designer always was. The difference is, I don’t show the basics as much. What interests me is constructing the dream.”
