CRUISE 2020 : When Minimalism Meets Maximalist at Prada

Dear spring, thank you so much for all the things that you bring us during your season, between your soft weather and the approach of summer, we are all enjoying this period. But of course the most important and exciting thing during this time is : cruise collections, which are a true breath air in the fashion industry.

Two days ago Miuccia Prada decided to set her 2020 cruise collection in New York for a mix of revival and a tribute to the 2000’s era.

The first look gave the tone for the rest, a strange minimalism embodied by a simple double-breasted coat, for Miuccia this collection is described as the opposite of “pretentious”, the whole point of this show was to be simple “to protest against too much” and it was immediately showed with colours such as pastel in pink, blue and beige but not only, the shape of the blazers, suits, shirts and coats, everything was thought to reach what Miuccia desired. However, thankfully we still have a bit of Prada’s DNA with all the prints, from country flowers tapestry, scottish fabric to simple checked coats…. The collection was a perfect balance for Miuccia who’s evolved in politic and it was embraced through it, she said “I’m sensitive to the political situation; it affects me.”

Spotted on the runway : the iconic bowling bag (a way to remember the past) which has been re updated for a modern version allowing some fussy silhouettes of different patterns.

On the other hand, the accessories were a mix of far-fetched scarves, baroque earrings and comical pastel sunglasses, a total offbeat collection mixed with simplicity, but which fits perfectly the Prada woman : subtle, eccentric and passionate.
