A black show. A mirror parade. Plumetis tights. A touch of fluo. Shoulders. Some knots. A tuxedo jacket. Girls like black flamingos.
During Fashion week, we tend to see masses of trends manifest itself onto our runways, but one we didn’t expect to see back so soon was neon. If not done right, neon can be trashy and tasteless, which we don’t coming out of one of our favourite fashion houses. However, Anthony Vaccarello never disappoints, and he gave us powerful sharp silhouettes, neon mini dresses and structured blazers; a subtle revival of the 80s.
Models walked the runway under a black light at YSL’s Fall/Winter 2019 show, the perfect contrast for when the models strutted down in their neon fit. Saint Laurent is marching to the beat of its own drum, paying tribute to the 80s with the aim of presenting graphic sculptural tailoring for a sharp and sophisticated vision, plus a special neon grand finale.
