When you tell me that models have bleached eyebrows and are walking down the runway in combat boots and faux fur pieces; you have my attention. With a star-studded line up, including Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevinge, Prada’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection was nothing short of dark romanticism.
There was a clear juxtaposition in the collection; dark gothic meets posit romance. The collection was an enthralling sci-fi fairytale, with multiple Hollywood thriller references, including the movies Frankenstein and The Addams family. The music fit the dark goth theme, with background tracks including the violin instrumental version of “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga, mixed into the Tales from the Crypt and X Files soundtracks.
Miuccia Prada must’ve received notice that military could be making a comeback, as army green skirts, oversized patch pockets and monochromatic trouser suits made an appearance. This collection is more practical than most, meaning that you can throw on a Frankenstein-inspired dress to run to the store and buy groceries. Prada does no wrong, and its hard to find fault in her work season-after-season.
