Harris Reed: A Name You Will Hear A Lot In The Future

FINALLY WE CAN ALL SING OUR LUNGS OUT WEARING FLOUNCY BLOUSES AND FEELING A LITTLE BIT MORE LIKE A NEW AGE ROCK STAR

Last Monday, London-based and Central Saint Martins student and designer Harris Reed released his first capsule collection. As his first one, you would expect something completely new but I think some of us has already seen some of the pieces: ruffles and glitter were protagonists of Harry Styles world tour being Harris Reed one of the designers behind Harry’s gorgeous outfits.

LET’S TAKE AN INSIGHT LOOK AT HARRIS’ LIFE

LA born from English father and American mother, he moved around the States with his family learning and always being open about his sexuality and his passion for fashion, sometimes even being victim of bullies. He explains his teen years as crazy ones interning from a company to another, from New York back to LA. However, it’s not until London when he truly realised his real self: the young and incredibly talented designer that we all know. During his first year at CSM for the White Show, an internal event of the university, he presents his firsts pieces and somehow Solange – Yes, her! – ends up being photographed with one of his huge brimmed white hat.

A thing led to another, to another more, to designing magical clothes for Mr. Harry Styles. The connection was Harry Lambert, stylist and friend of Harry, who introduced the two and *puff the result is a colourful, glittery, gender fluid, revolutionary collaboration. First thing we notice is that movement is the key, second thing: those sleeves make me wanna dance into them! Talking about Harry he says “Harry could not have been a more lovely or supportive client throughout this entire process. He never held back if he loved something.” And I say “cuties!”

The tour ended but it was just the begging of Harris’ career: we’ve seen him walking for Gucci, working with Alessandro Michele, being interviewed from Vogue, Another Man, DAZED, I’D, standing for the LGBTQIA+ community and the list doesn’t end here. Now it’s time for the collection: it a 30 pieces capsule all about puffed sleeves, flare collar, bright colours and a nostalgic Victorian age taste.

Personally I love his aesthetic and I hope we will see more in the future; I think fashion needs some fun and a designer with such a strong personality.

Here the pieces I love:
