Hermès Is Venturing Out To Skincare And Cosmetics

Hermès has announced last week that come 2020, it will also be offering skincare and cosmetics alongside its luxury goods.

Hermès CEO Axel Dumas said, “It’s quite exciting. It’s a new activity, with all the risks that involves, so we will deploy it progressively, initially in our own stores mainly, in a limited distribution so that we can learn.”

According to a report from Business of Fashion, the collection will be manufactured in France and Italy and will use plastic-free packaging. With more information to be released in the upcoming months, one thing we know for sure is the line will come with premium prices - a small candle from the brand is $186, perfumes range around $102 to $139, and body products range from $50 to $70.

A strategic move for a brand like Hermès. Consumers who love the brand can now own a piece of the brand without having to spend big-bucks on their luxury craftsmanship goods, i.e. a Birkin or a Kelly.
